Tribute to Billy Holiday

Feel the electrifying and intimate atmosphere of the 1930s jazz club. The project, directed by Magdalena Howorska and Maciej Fortuna, pays homage to “Lady Day,” whose sensitivity and voice made her a legend.

Billie’s personal and moving music interpretations of her most iconic songs, such as “Blue Moon,” “Billie’s Blues,” and “Strange Fruit,” bring out the honest blues message so characteristic of an outstanding singer. The band also presents lesser-known but equally beautiful works of the Artist, interwoven with stories from her life and career.

Magdalena’s great vocal style consciously refers to the great Billie, and the emotional sound of Maciej’s trumpet perfectly complements this statement. Other artists fit in perfectly – Ludmiła Krukowska (double bass) and Kuba Kinsner (drums).

Join us and take part in an unforgettable tribute to the life and music of Billie Holiday – a true jazz icon.

Niemen / Norwid

The original arrangements of Czesław Niemen’s works go far beyond the accepted framework of interpreting the material known to everyone. The songs gain a new sound, and adaptations of Magdalena Howorska’s lyrics succumb to the music, capturing the depth of the timeless message. Niemen was inspired by the work of Cyprian Norwid, whose poems complement the concert program. Magdalena Howorska and Maciej Fortuna presented their interpretations during the 15th edition of the Niemen Non-Stop Festival in Słupsk in 2021. Several years earlier, Fortuna won the contest of young talents accompanying the festival. This time, however, it was Magdalena Howorska who created the musical layer of the concert, which received a standing ovation and many warm reviews.
